Which instruments can I play?
We offer Rock & Pop exams from Initial to Grade 8, for bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and vocals.

How does the exam work?
In the exam you will play three songs. Two of these must be from our songbooks, but the third can be a song of your own choice, or even your own composition. You will also demonstrate either your playback or improvisation skills.

What support will I get?
Our songbooks (publishing in September) provide notation for eight songs and downloadable backing tracks that you can play along to. We will also provide a wealth of online support material, from technical demos, to music industry tips.

What is Rock & Pop 2018?
Rock & Pop 2018 is an update to the current syllabus. It launches in September 2017, but you can continue to use the existing syllabus until the end of 2018.

Rock & Pop only includes REAL songs, from the artists you know and love. We have everything from all-time classics to the latest smash releases, from Bowie to Lorde, Stevie Wonder to Queens of the Stone Age.

Where can I take the exam?
We have venues around the world offering Rock & Pop exams. You can find details here.

What should I do if I'm already preparing for an exam?
Exams can be taken using the current syllabus until the end of 2018, so you can carry on preparing as you were. If you wanted to be examined using the new syllabus you will need to wait until January 2018.

Will the new syllabus be harder/easier?
The new syllabus is the same level as the current one.

Can you tell me which songs the new syllabus includes?
We can't release song lists yet, but will be able to provide full details in September.
